I boarded the S.A Roadlink bus which was supposed to leave Cape Town at 11a.m on the 29th of September and arrive at the Pretoria station at 7a.m the following morning. The bus left CPT at 12:30pm, when we arrived at Bloemfontein (1am) we were instructed to get off the bus and onto another one without explanation, as we left the town 25km away we noticed the bus swerving from left to right in the middle of the road and it suddenly came to a halt right on the freeway 30km outside of Bloemfontein. We were not informed by the driver of the reason why he stopped. The passengers had to go out and make an enquiry, to find out that the bus engine had failed and that the fan-belt had been wasted away. The driver made no attempt to contact the company, so we had to do so ourselves. We were told that a mechanic would be sent to up within 2 hours and he didn't come. Upon further contact with the company we were told that we would have to wait for a bus from CPT which was 10 hours away. The bus was already full with passengers and could only take 4 people who "had important issues to attend to", the rest of us had to hitch-hike. I had to risk my life and get a ride home from strange
