SAA boots off silver voyager customer for standby

On Friday 25 January, my wife, Glenda, an SAA voyager silver member, was due to fly from or Tambo to Cape Town SA359. As a result of a Gautrain delay, she arrived at the check in counter 30 minutes before departure. The check in staff assisted with a quick check in as she had no check in luggage, issued a boarding pass and told her to hurry to make the flight. When she arrived at the boarding gate, the last customers were boarding and the transit bus was still waiting. When she gave her boarding pass, the assistant told her that she had been offloaded and her seat 32f was given to a standby customer standing behind her in the queue. The assistant refused to give her name when asked and was not prepared to let Glenda on to the plane. As a result, the only was she was able to get to Cape Town was to purchase an upgrade for the 21h00 flight on business class for R1400. If this is how loyalty members are treated, SAA needs to relook their benefits. I would understand if the check in was refused because the flight was closed, but to issue a boarding pass and then offload a silver voyager customer is shocking. We are out of pocket and disgusted. 150 SAA flights in the past 2 years.
