If SAA want to compete with the top airlines on service they are going to have to stop thinking like civil servants.
The debacle that took place on Sunday with the flight SA1767 to Gaborone was typical of the service one would expect from the municipality
We all boarded the Flight only to be told the aircraft needed repair and we had to disembark.
It took the bus 25 mins to come and fetch us that even the pilot was getting annoyed.
We were then taken back to the departures hall through gate 30 and dumped there.
At this point we have not seen a SAA customer service person.
It is lunch time and there are kids on the plane who were starving and the only food available in that departure hall is Junk Food.
Nobody was communicating with us so we did not know if we had time to go upstairs to get some decent food. If this was Emirates we would have been offered food and drink and a customer service person would have been assigned to us.
The net result is we landed in Gaborone nearly 5 hours late and no customer services person to be seen
Of course it was lunch time so they were probably feeding themselves in some comfortable lounge.
But I get this impression nobody cares
