Kulula's baggage allowance is 20kg irrospective of whether you are flying domestic or international.
I was travelling to the UK - where all airlines allow at least 23kg of luggage. My hand luggage weighed 5kg (3kg under weight) and my cargo luggage weighed 22kg which was a total weight of 26kg. My allowance was 20kg cargo luggage and 8kg hand luggage which is a total of 28kg therefore I was 2kg underweight.
My travel partner did not have any cargo luggage only hand luggage. I was made to pay R250 for being 2kg over weight in my cargo luggage
On my return I booked extra baggage and paid R250 for an extra suitcase weighing 20kg
It is completely ridiculous that travellers travelling abroad cannot take the same amount of luggage allowance as is allowed on international flights.
My family and I have always used Kulula as our preferred airline for domestic flights and will most certainly not use it again, even if we are returning on the same day and have no luggage do to this money making scheme
