So I have been flying SAA for 15 years and the customer service has become shocking so I decided to try BA.
I fly abroad 5-6 times per year and all my staff fly spending over R1mil a year on travel. I joined the Exec club and also switched my miles from Discovery over to them.
I accumulated a lot of miles pretty quickly. 60, 000.
So I decided to try and use them. What a joke! BA only allocates a few seats to upgrades and if you don't book like 6 months in advance you can't get them and even then you can't always get a seat as not every flight gets upgrade seat allocations.
I usually book a month in advance and over the past year and 5 trips I have yet to get an upgradeable seat. It is not possible. It is not even possible to get a business seat using miles. My last flight was in premium economy and I had tried to upgrade to business but told there were no seats available. When we took off I checked business class and there was 9 seats empty!!
I really regret my decision to switch to BA and will head back to SAA with a smile and take my company travellers with me.
DO NOT JOIN EXEC CLUB AND DO NOT FLY BA (BAD AIRLINE)
