I was adviced that I can convert my Discovery Miles to Avios points to use to partially pay for a return flight from Johannesburg to Windhoek only to realize upon trying to book that there is no availability on any of the flights 6 to 7 weeks in advance. Yet I was able to book flights on the days that I wanted through Kulula or through British Airways when I didn't want to use Avios points. I phoned the BA callcentre and the operator advized me that people book 11 months in advance. Unfortunately I am not retired and can't book a one day business trip a year in advance. I would suggest that BA tells prospective Avios victims this type of detail so that they can make informed decisions. I never had this problem with Discovery Miles. Now I can't convert my Avios points back to Discovery Miles so effectively the Avios points are useless to me!!!
