MTN 3G - Strong Signal, No data Throughput

I am on a MTG 3g 2Gig contract through MTNSP. Since moving over from Vodacom (that worked 100%) to MTN in December 2012, the data throughput is very unreliable and inconsistent in my area (co Belini and Florin Road Wilgeheuwel Roodepoort). Device is a Huawei E353 HSPA USB modem. Between 5 pm and 00:00AM at night I barely get any data throughput, in the region of about 10 k per minute although the modem shows HSPA signal. Suddenly I wil get for about 30 seconds throughput of about 2 M and then it will just drop back to NO throughput. 3G number is 0780979786
