The past 3 months the ADSL network in the Stellenbosch (Krigeville suburb) area has become more and more congested to a point where it is now useless!
Early February I was only able to get 2Mbps after midnight up to around 10:00. During the rest of the day I was limited to under 1Mbps and the speed gradually increased from around 22:00 until I reached full 2Mbps at midnight.
Near the end of March, I could only achieve full speed after 04:00.
This kind of service was still acceptable, because I was getting download speeds of around 1Mbps and my latencies were sub 20ms.
I have logged a fault, but the technician just closed it because the ADSL line itself was 100% stable.
Suddenly since Monday 15th of April, it has become drastically worse! My latencies has increased to between 600ms and 1200ms, with it being normal between only 02:00 and 06:00! The download and upload speeds are also worse.
Seeing that I'm renting my line via MWEB, I asked them to look into the congestion matter, but they cannot do anything (not even give me a report on the congestion), because the Exchange is being run solely by Telkom.
I have charts in Zabbix as concrete proof showing how it got worse...
