Upgrade of contract

Contract due for upgrade 1 April 2013. I contacted Nashua on 18/3/2013 to give upgrade contract details. I was informed they cant process upgrade until 1 April. On 2 April I received confirmation that new contract is ordered. Since then no one at Nashua bothered to contact me until 16 April to inform me that my cell will be delivered. Got delivery on 17 April. Tried to activate sim, no luck. Phoned Nashua on 18 to activate and done but in the next 24 hours only.
Complaints:
1.I have to spend hours following up, contacting Nashua to establish progress. the information and assistance other than if I contact Nashua is non existent!
2.I do not understand why the phone could not be ordered in advance so that delivery could be on 1 April when upgrade is effective
3 Why was I not told that I must contact Nashua to activate the sim? Why does Nashua not activate on confirmation of delivery?
The experience of the upgrade was a headache from day one to completion.
And the worst of it is that it wont even help to switch providers because all of them are equally bad with customer service.
