I have been a contract subscriber since 2004 with Vodacom and before the termination of my contract (week of 25-29 March 2013) I had visited Vodacom Fourways and called Vodacom (111) to confirm that my numbers could be converted to prepaid once my contract had been terminated, they confirmed that this was possible and all I would need was to take my ID, proof of residence and know the last 5 dialled numbers. Once my contract had been terminated I went past Vodacom Fourways (10 April 2013) and called Vodacom (111) to re confirm what I needed to bring in and they again said it was possible to have my numbers converted to prepaid. Today, 15 April 2013 I went in with all my documents and to my surprise I was told that my dual sim number had been disconnected and deleted - and there was no way of getting that number back. I have just started my own business with that number on all aspects of the company including advertising and marketing projects, business cards and websites and had I known that I couldn't keep the number I would have continued with the contract. I was led blindly to my fate by uninformed staff and now i have a business number that does not exist.
