Cell C fails me

I have had a contract with Cell C since 2007 and to my understanding this was a 2 year contract. Little did I know that this did not cancel automatically. I had explained that I had lost this phone and blocked it a few months after I got it. Few days ago found out that this had to be cancelled in store which I was not aware of. I fully take the responsibility for this. But the service I received trying to understand why I was not offered 2 upgrades was such a mission. I am appualed at the service and lack of response I have received. If they could not get hold of me on that number they had my email address which they could have sent this information too?
I called this morning and only to get an email this evening to say I would not be offered anything in this regards and I have lost out. After paying an extra 4 years on this service surely they can look into this instead that they are arrogant!
I have learnt my lesson and will never do any dealing with this company..
