Can someone please explain to me the reasoning behind being forced to have an ADSL and phone line. I am essentially paying for a phone service that I don't use and am told by call centre employee who has a " because the computer says so it must be true" attitude that the two are inextricably linked. The service I need is a reliable, fast internet connection at home hence the ADSL service but have a phone service that I don't use and don't need. A year down the line at R190 per month is a total waste of money and amounts to bullying by being told if I don't want the phone line, my ADSL line will be cut as well.
Looking at the bigger picture, how many customers are out there that are in the same boat, paying for a service that is not needed and Telkom raking in cash for a service that we are being told we have no choice but to have?
In this economic climate, this is shameful.
