My housekeeper had 1 Vodacom contract which I assisted her to take out. Subsequently Vodacom called her with "special offers" and lured her into taking another contract! She can not afford this, but she is not very educated and was so impressed that they'd specially called her, that she's now in serious trouble!
She got in arrears VERY quickly after taking this second contract. As she didn't understand how the contracts and free minutes work, she went in to Vodacom Cresta, where she was given YET MORE credit!
Surely they are supposed to get proof of income etc before extending credit?
They now refuse to cancel the "top-up" of monthly free minutes before the account is up to date...! This means that a) she cannot use her free minutes while she's in arrears and b) she cannot use the top-up minutes she's being charged for! This means the arrears just escalate and she has little chance of getting on top of it.
Not only is this immoral marketing practice, but it's downright criminal!
According to Vodacom's policies, she's completely unable to cancel this contract!!! Nobody on the customer service will ever be able to "help" her with this! Absolutely shocking and shame on you!!
