Recently Telkom has supposedly done maintenance on their internet lines around the Durban North Area.
I have had email correspondence from Telkom notifying me about the maintenance, and also notifying me that maintenance was completed.
Currently we hold various Telkom residential internet accounts and run on the fastest line option (4mb)
When i carry out speed tests I end up with a latency of well over 500ms (peak was over 1000ms)
Download speeds hit a low at .3 mbps and uploads .03mbps
The service is inconsistent and after numerous attempts contacting the technical department no repair and solution has been found. Telkom simply just resets the port and things should 'magically' just come right. There is definitely a different problem. The router setup is fine and has worked fine in the past.
This is unacceptable. Simply opening up web pages takes ages.
Statements that line upgrades are due in March has been released, where they will upgrade to 20mb, 40mb lines.
I am waiting in anticipation
The areas affected are La Lucia/Umhlanga rocks
I wonder if it is only me experiencing problems?
