I live in Vaalwater, Limpopo (The western bushveld)
I operated a small computer support business from my farm.
I have 4 Vodacom contracts totalling 15GB of data per month.
The Vodacom cell tower frequently goes off-line for long periods of time. This occurs several times a month and more frequently during stormy conditions.
I am often left with no Phone or Data Services.
Not only is this very bad for my business but it is potentially dangerous as I live alone on the farm and if there was a critical event I have no ways of calling the Police, an Ambulance or any emergency service.
The MTN and Cell-C towers always remain operational.
Yesterday I was conducting remote computer support and the signal died, no phone or data. I could not ring the client to explain why I was no longer working on his system. The tower was down for over 4 hours.
I have reported this to the call centre at least twice a month for the last 4 months but the issue is never resolved.
