No turning off 3G on Iphone5

We live on a farm near Douglas in the Northern Cape where there is only Vodacom EDGE signal. We were always able to used our apple Iphone's by just turning off the 3G signal option so that the phone doesnt search gor a better signal than the available EDGE. Now, Vodacom updated it's carrier settings on the Iphones to only let you choose between 3G and LTE signal, none of which we have! Now our phones bearly work, it keeps searching for the 3G signal that is not available. Please Vodacom: Either update our cellphone tower to 3G or change the settings so we can be able to completely turn off 3G as well as LTE voice signal.
