IPhone under warranty

IPhone stopped charging, still under warranty, brought into Vodacom repair centre to repair.

get call 2 weeks later that phone is not covered because of crack on back which has been there for 6 months.

since when does a minor crack affect the warranty in terms of the phone not charging!

I asked the team leader multiple time if crack on back is reason that phone is not charging and she was unable to answer.

please fix my phone under warranty as you are suppose to...!
