MTN making cancellation impossible

I have trying to cancel the MTN contract since december 2013; i call the customer service and they refer me to the Retentions department which is not answering phones. In most instances I hold call for more than an hour, can you how strenous it is. i have even tried to resort to using other lines (vodacom and telkom) to call hoping that maybe a different line will be picked up, but to nothing. I even went to an MTN store in ghandi square and they told they cant cancell my contract they too have to go through the retentions dept, i stayed for more and hour whilst they were trying to assist but they didnt. I dont know why MTN is making it difficult to cancel a contract while its so easy to open it. my contract was for 24months june 2011 to june june 2013, they called towards the end asking if i want to upgrade and i told them No I want to cancel and retain my number as prepaid; but they didnt cancel instead they are busy giving me airtime that i dont need and they debit my account without my consent, they were suppused to debit until june 2013 but now its Feb 2014 and they are still debiting my account. Please help, i dont need this airtime they are giving me.
