On 06/02/2013 I received my monthly statement from MTN. I've 1 business contracts with MTN. There was an amount of R631.68 for January and R 368.48 for the previous month. I only noticed this after a close look at my bill. invoiced for 'content charge'. I called MTN and demanded an explanation. They said it was for a subscription service from Smartcall technology solutions. I explained to them that this was not possible, me subscribing to this so called service. They suggested that I call Smartcall to stop the service. This I did immediately. Spoke to a lady at Smartcall Tech. named Ivonne who said they will unsubscribe this service.

After some research on the internet it became very clear that this company, Smartcall, takes a lot of money from unsuspecting consumers. MTN facilitates this by taking the consumers money on behalf of Smartcall. I strongly feel that this is a corrupt relationship between MTN and Smartcall. MTN should not have the right to pay a third party on my behalf without my written consent. According to my bill MTN cannot verify what i subcribed to, but has billed me. After checking my balance to date it say R3006.92. A complete rip off.
