I purchased a 24 hour data service at 10:06am on 26 Jan 2014 through MTN's Loyalty Point Program using *141*9#. I received a sms saying "Y'ello, You have purchased 24Hour data using 1700 Loyalty Points. Your available Points balance is 98 Points"
After connecting it to my modem I realized the pages stopped loading and decided to check my balance. I was surprised as it has used more than R200 of my money balance. After phoning 141 the MTN voice said that you have to activate the service.
I phoned 808 and was told that they cannot rectify this as I had to go to their website and make sure I understood the package before I purchased it.. I have purchased plenty of data packages before and never had to activate the package and no activation instructions was sent to me..
I feel that MTN is charging a me more than R200 and 1700 loyalty points for a service they say you can purchase with the reward points you get for using their service.
To make things worse. I decided to active the service to complain on Hellopeter & could not do it, phoned 808 again and was told I had to activate it from the handset, they cant activate it and the service is down, I have to wait a couple of hours.
