So confused about these data bundles

I cannot get any consensus on the data bundles that vodacom has available. I just called the call centre and was just treated badly by a consultant who wouldn't answer my questions but were fixated on asking me what my exact airtime balance was and exactly when I last recharged! I recharge all the time, how can I remember silly details like this!

I would like to know what the difference is between data bundles that are:
*one-off
*monthly recurring
*promotional

And then what the difference is between:
*broadband advanced
*broadband standard

I bought a monthly recurring 100MB data bundle, and used it before the end of its expiry, so was impatient for it to renew. When the 11 Sept came, it did not renew! So this morning (12 Sept) I tried to buy another bundle, this time a promotional bundle. It took the R30, and then all I got was an sms saying that blackberry service has not been activated for my number. I have an iPhone!!! What on earth is this about and what is going on?

The consultant could not help me, could someone please phone and explain these things to me?
