Where are we headed?

I really don't undferstand the nature in which credit provide give service. Firstly I have been employed for a period of about 4 years, with no credit applications or debt. Which would obviously mean that I have a clean record and a clean bill of health, when it comes to credit. I recently applied for a contract phone with Samsung, through MTN SP. My contract was declined due to a "clean" credit record. I fail to understand how this has come about. I have only a loan with one of the authorised financial service providers, which has been kept very well, paid on time and no complaints. Does this not prove that I will be able to maintain a cellphone contract. I think that these assesments that are run during application stage, are very much confusing. Please assist in resolving my issue. Yours truly confused and dissapointed.
