I had a night owl account with vodacom which I ended in July, 2012. Without prior notice, 2 months after I had closed the account they billed me for excessive data usage (R1600). I filed SEVERAL complaints with them in which I explained to them the following.
After requesting that they atleast inform me on what the amount was for they said that it was for additional data usage (but my internet was capped).
I then obtained an itemised bill on which I noticed that days they said I used the internet I was driving back from Durban, had meetings the entire day etc which would have made it impossible to spend as much time on the net as they said.
I informed the branch manager, they suggested I phone client service, who suggested I speak to data usage, accounts, and I had even spoken to cancellation at some point. None of them could explain this or the fact that they had charged me without notice (I still have the invoice). I went back to the branch and explained my frustration, at that point I had gathered all the documents to go to the ICCSA. He suggested I phone the regional branch manager. Having wasted fruitless time, energy and money on phone calls I decided not to bother.
