I am the latest victim to this mobile networks value added services. I had a 2Gb mobile data contact with Cell-C for R99 per month. Their call centre claims I subscribed to Mira and smart call. I have no knowledge of this. I did receive SMSs opt out, but I never opted IN so I ignored them. This month I was debited R660-00. If I legitimately did or didn't subscribe, I personally think this is wrong, and think my details were forwarded to these companies by Cell C.
The Cell phone networks are clearly on bed with value added service companies, as there are no ethics in this. I'm sure thousands of people get these nasty surprises daily. Having a cell contract with Cell C now is like giving them a blank cheque.
This value added services need to come of one private account and not added to the operators bill. Let me signup and put my credit card details in. I think this is and needs to be stopped immediately. Out of principal will seeking legal advice.
