Samsung s2 common problem

I was busy charging my Samsung S2 when an error message popped up "Voltage too high charging paused". The battery life gradually became shorter until it only lasted half a day. I researched the net only to discover that this was a common problem with the s2. I then booked it in at N1 City, the response was "beyond economical repair due to water damage". I have had cell phones since May 1994 and not one has ever been exposed to water, this is a ruse so that CellC can walk away from honouring their commitments. CellC has my phone for 2 months now, about two weeks ago I went into the store and was told that the phone was not sent to Samsung but was handled internally by their repair centre. When I asked the sales person to check on the net about the well documented error I was told that they do not have internet access and that I should go home and print everything and return it to them. This the "greatest " effort to duck and dive that I have yet encountered. Does Samsung not guarantee their products and is it safe to buy another one? I am currently using my first Samsung M8800 pixon phone at the moment, guess I don't know how to look after my phones!!
