I visited the Telkom at Sandtoncity a few weeks ago &enquired about the procedure to apply for a data contract. I was told I needed 3months bank statement, proof of address & a copy of my ID . The gentleman also said depending on the credit vetting, I could get my Data sim within 30 mins. I went to Sandton City on Friday afternoon (22 Nov) with the stipulated documents and was told I didnt have my payslip so I should come back. After asking a few people if I could not just email my payslip as I wasnt initially advised of this they agreed & made me fill in documentation. A lady took my documents and said she'll call me back. I wasnt too happy as I was previously told that it could be done in 30 mins. She then proceeded to capture my data onto the system but then a message appeared onscreen stating "suspected Telkom ". She couldnt explain to me what this meant and said someone will contact me once this is investigated (before 48 hours). I called back on Monday (25th), Wednesday (27th) and Thursday (28th) and still have gotten no response from anyone as to why this was& when I could get my sim. My current contract ends this week and I do not want to be left internet-less
