Since yesterday, my Telkom ADSL service is out of service again for most of the time (see my previous 2 Telkom reports). After the last complaint and a few additional fault reports after that, someone did something at the exchange and it worked since then for about 90% of the time over the past 6 weeks, but during the past few days it started deteriorating again until I now only have service for about 10% of the time. The modem connects fine at 1024kbps, but I cannot surf and pinging sites show me there is no data transfer. However, last night, I could successfully ftp a 17Mb file to a server in the US at an average speed of 54kbps, while I could not surf at the same time. It is getting very frustrating, as I have work to do via the Internet and people to pay, and I cannot. I'm paying for a service that is unusable and I'm not happy about it. I need this to be sorted out once and for all - and don't tell me the exchange is congested (why do my neighbours connecting to the same exchange have no problems) - I just need it fixed immediately and permanently! Last night I contacted Telkom support, got an escalation no (551273925) and nothing has happened after that, no calls, nothing!
