Account opened in my name

I was a victim of identity in early August. I reported the matter to SAPS and also registered with the SAFPS.

I noticed shortly after that an MTN account appeared on my credit report i.e that one had been opened in my name.

I have been trying to close it for over three months now.

I have contacted MTN three times via its online reporting form to report the matter with no feedback; I also tried the call centre to no avail.

I have emailed again, recently, with no response.

I saw this morning, upon viewing my credit report, that the account has now been handed over to collections and I have still received no contact from the company.

I am very unhappy about this, as is a serious crime and one would at least expect MTN to respond or call. Over and above, the criminals managed to open an unlimited MTN account in my name with just an ID number.

Can someone from MTN please contact me to resolve the matter and instruct me on how to deal with the matter.
