Mobile Data Deal gone SOUR

I subscribed for the mobile data R149/5GB per month package to save on expensive data charges from MTN and to maintain low cell phone bills. My average monthly bill is R600. I recently did a software update on my Galaxy S4. The APN settings to make use of Afrihost data got wiped due to the software upgrade and I was running on MTN data for 8 days without being aware of it. I only realised this once my MTN phone account was blocked as I reached my credit limit. My unbilled phone balance amounts to R4 700!! Afrihost did not warn me about software upgrades once I signed up and there was no precaution in place to warn me that I'm not running on Afrihost data anymore. I phoned the call centre and they said that they can't do anything about it and that is my own fault. All of a sudden, since yesterday emails were pouring in from Afrihost to make us aware of software upgrades as well as sms's to warn you if you have been disconnected from Afrihost's data for more than 8 hours. I believe if Afrihost were more proactive from the start, I wouldn't have been in this situation. I really don't know how I'm gonna pay my phone bill but I do know that this will leave me broke for a long time :-(
