I have had a Cell C Speedstick for probably 2 years now and it was up until now, brilliant. In the last month, something has happened to cause a severe deterioration in data connectivity.
I reside in Claremont. On calling Cell C's data customer service centre, the call centre person was unable to assist given that the problem is apparently one caused by Cell C's "success". I was told that due to "numbers doubling" that the "network is being overused" and that their "engineers are aware of the issue". When asked what they were doing, I was told they need more towers... which won't be implemented in the short term.
What am I (and I presume other Cell C customers) to do whilst this is resolved? Surfing the internet has now become a HUGELY frustrating experience. Whilst the actual connection doesn't get dropped, the internet hangs, freezes, and is unable to display any webpages.
As such, suffice to say, we are very disappointed with the user experience, and will now be looking to move to MTN/Vodacom.
