On the 24th of October I cancelled my Telkom Mobile Business contract at a Telkom branch (expiry date 4 Oct 20013). I explicitly stated that I want my cell phone number continued as prepaid. On 31 Oct I confirmed with their call centre (ref 6881866); I was assured that the number will continue as prepaid. On the 4th of Oct I was told by the call centre (ref 7099456) that my number was cancelled and is no longer in existence. I gave them till 12h00 to reactive my number, but it seems Telkom is more interested in alienating their customers than correcting their mistakes after they have messed up.
With this don't care attitude they have put the security of my internet banking & my car tracking service at risk and generally inconvenienced me. I'm still waiting for them to restore my number.
