Port gone wrong

I bought a new Cell C sim card and registered it immediately. I wanted to port my number from MTN to Cell C. I sent and sms using my mtn sim card and sent an sms that said " port me 401303059944 to 084 767 8287" the time was 18:09 on Friday 25 October 2013. At 19:08 I received an sms response from 084 000 1273 which read " Your request to port has failed! Please Rica your Cell C sim card and call 084 767 8287 for further assistance". When I received the sms I on my way for a weekend away with my family. I ignored the sms.
Then sunday I went to Pick n Pay and I bought R60 MTN airtime for BIS as I could not leave without my phone anymore. I actived my BIS which was due to end 27/11/2013. Tuesday I did not have a phone whole day. When I switched on my phone the evening I was shocked to received a message that said " Congratulations your number has been successfully changed to Cell C". I was shocke/confused/frustrated and angry as to how because I bought BIS and now what about my money? I called Port divison and did not receive any help. How can I buy BIS Sunday and port my number on Tuesday knowing fully that I'll forfeit my BIS?
