After spending much time deciding on which contract to take gathering all the required paper work and submitting the paper work to cancel my existing contract with a different GSM provider. I have now been to two different MTN branches (Kuils River - Zevenwacht Mall & Stellenbosch - Stellenbosch Square) and neither was able to get me signed up for a new contract. It is unfathomable that it is not possible to walk into an MTN branch and sign up for a new contract! In the first case, I was told that they will be closing for renovations and that there was a 50/50 chance that the new contract may not be approved before the renovations and should that happen I would have to go else where and start the process from the beginning again. Stellenbosch did not have the package I wanted loaded on their local system and after some time on the phone said that the required info was being mailed to them, but could give no indication of when.
