No service an response wrt service restoration

My landline has been down for what is now approaching one and a half months, I was told by the telkom call centre that it as an "area fault" but nobody will commit themselves to a time period as to when it will be repaired or what the actual problem is. OK? so we sit without service... no one knows, or wants to know... for how long, maybe indefinitely...
