Cell C
Contract and now I'm receinving letters that I owe

I took a contract with Cell C starting from 05/042011 and started paying the contract with no arrears. On the 27th April 2013 they deducted the last R100 for the first phone and 27th May 2013 they deducted the last R50 for the second phone. All was fine till yesterday 11th October 2013 I received 2letters claiming that I'm owing R400 and R200 for the phones. Worst of all is that when the phones got damaged and I called the call centre I was told there is no insurance for the phones. As the phones were no longer working, I didn't continue using both numbers.
Today 08:30am, 11th October 2013 I called was put through the legal department and they said I should have written a letter for cancellation of the contract. When I told them that no one told me about that and they were the ones who were deducting in my acc and stopped when the contract lapsed, why should I now suddenly be owing them. I even explained that I never got any letter that told me about those terms and conditions. They insisted that it was read to me telephonically. I then ask for copy recording as proof that those "supposed terms and conditions: " were read out to me and the lady dropped the phone on me.
