On arriving at my new flat, I discovered there was very poor 8ta signal, despite their coverage map showing 3G coverage. After a few calls to the call centre and a few days waiting a technician was finally sent out. He came to my house and said he'd report it as 'no signal' and that I'd receive a call within 48 hours from 8ta. After not receiving this call, I contacted the call centre to find that my issue had been marked as resolved. Since then I have made a number of calls to the call centre, having to re-explain the situation each time, each time becoming more frustrated with the lack of information. On at least three occasions I have been assured that I would receive a call back the next day or the same day. Not once have these promises been fulfilled. I am losing hope that 8ta can in any way provide a solution to this issue. I would love to cancel the service after all this, but the 'cancellation fee' is a ridiculous R800 when all I got in return was a SIM and monthly access to the network. Why the outrageous cancellation fee?? Perhaps the saddest thing is that if I change to ADSL, I am forced to deal with Telkom incompetence all over again.
