Cancellation Process Riddled With

I have an all inclusive ADSL account (month-on-month) with Mweb. According to various documentation, a 1 calender month notice is required to cancel. I submitted my cancellation on 04 July 2013 via email and I received acknowledgement thereof, BUT they confirmed that cancellation is for 31 August 2013, almost 2 months later. I queried this, and the response is that their billing runs from the 1st to 31st, therefore my cancellation can only be effected end August 2012 - is this legal??? Anyways, I let it be but now it is meant to come to an end on 31 August 2013, but I received an invoice for ADSL billing for September 2013 today (as it is paid in advance). I queried this immediately as my cancellation is scheduled for 31 Aug 2013, therefore how is it that am being billed for September 2013. The consultant (Valencia) advised as if this is normal practice and that my account will be credited on 01 Sept 2013??? How is it possible that they can debit my account even though notice has been given and acknowledged - this is and once again, these corporates think that they are a law unto themselves. Shame on you!
