The last month or so I have had extremely high pings on my Telkom line at night. It was in the region of 300-600ms. It started at around 6 0'clock and only came down the next morning. I have tracert or ping information as well as broadband monitoring output to prove that it isn't downloads etc. Also it is just me on the line. Now it started to happen in the middle of the day as well. I swapped modems and got an account from another ISP to be certain of the origin of the problem. Telkom can't promote their product as Gaming Internet (Do broadband advertising) and expect it's users to be okay with 300 ms ping. It is impossible to play online games with such a ping. I suspect the problem is a congested internet exchange or some sort of throttling from telkom isp. I logged an online fault but there was no option for describing the problem. There are a lot of other users experiencing the same problem that wrote the only way to get this fixed is to post on hellopeter as most people handling the faults don't have the technical knowledge to fix this or even know what it is.
