Brand New Phone Damaged

My name is Lerato Setuke (8409160902081) I took a contract in February (Sony Experia J) and did not use the phone until Yesterday (2013/05/29).

When I tried to switch on the phone it was not working.

I do not have a Vodacom where I work and I need someone to assist me with the problem that I am currently facing, . I cannot be paying for a phone that is not working and I called 082 1945 more than 3 times but the is no one picking up the call.

I took my phone for repairs on the 1st of June as advised by the consultant and they booked it in for repairs and 2 day later received an sms saying Job number 8910865 is been accessed and tthat was the last communication that i got from them. I decided to call them on the 17 JUly to find out and they tell me that the Technician says that my phone was liquid damaged. How does a brand new phone have liquid damaged i have not insected a sim card on that phone it was never ever activated. I need an explaination from Vodacom before i get a heart attack...
