Tired of Cell phones and their providers

I purchased a cellphone on the 21st June 2013 at Game on a topup contract. i called Vodacom this morning, asked if I could cancel the contract. I spoke to Mary, she checked my account& said yes youve only had it for 5days you can call our aftersales dept they will cancel it for you. I asked about the fact that i bought it at game would it be a problem, she said she doesnt think so, but AFTERSALES could check. the consultant at aftersales said yes, i could gladly cancel it. he could do it for me, then i asked about game and he spoke to his manager who said game has to do cancellation, but shouldnt be a problem cos the contract is held with vodacom and i can cancel within 14days. game says they cant take the phone back as the phone is now second hand. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? CAN THIS BE CANCELLED OR NOT? why was i told on a recorded line that I could cancel no obligation and now i cannot?
