MTN - prepaid users 'not allowed' to go contract!

Bought an MTN prepaid card and decided to move to contract. MTN says you can't do this - sorry!!

What happened to Mobile Number Portability?

Do I need to escalate to ombudsman or legal to get my number on contract?

So ALL PREPAID USERS CAN NEVER GO TO CONTRACT. Why, MTN?
