I have noticed that my Vodacom bill has increased by approximately R120 a month in the last few months, not using my phone any more than I have in the past. When I queried it with customer service, they told me that I must be downloading or viewing youtube videos - both of which I do not do on my phone.
After being told various possible reasons why I am being charged extra for data, they told me to call the data centre. I did this, after about 45 minutes of more excuses and 'you must be doing this and that', eventually the consultant told me that during the first year on the contract, Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter and other app's are included in the BIS package, but after the first year is up, you pay for the data usage which is R2 per MB.
I have spoken to a handful of friends who also noticed their bill suddenly jump by over R100/pm and they have noticed the same data charges. This info was not included in the contract, they did not email me telling me about this change after the first year. I now want to cancel my contract and had to wait another 15 minutes for them to tell me if I could pay the remaining amount on my credit card - NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER VODACOM
