What is up with DATA USAGE ON IPHONE 5?

I've switched from Vodacom to Cell C less than a week ago. I got the iphone5 deal.

I synched from my previous iphone, and downloaded one or two extra apps, but on WiFi.

But I see I've used almost 300 meg, and that in 5 days??? THAT IS RIDICULOUS!

I use exactly the same apps I used to when I was still at Vodacom. There I bought a data bundle and never ever could finish 500 meg in a month, in fact, i spread 500 meg over TWO months. I only facebook and whatsapp usually. And then also not a lot. Seriously my habits haven't changed.

How come? I am going to receive a crazy account at the end of the month and that upsets me extremely. I feel I have been mislead a bit by this contract. When I saw I received 400 meg in my contract per month, I was happy with that, as I know I use less than that a month.

I wanted to stay within the R399 my contract is costing me a month, as that is all I can afford. Due to my habits on my handset, I knew I would be able to stick to the limits and confines of the contract.

But now less than a week out and already almost 300 meg???!! THAT IS CRAZY! my data usage tool shows even data being "used" while I am sleeping. What is up?
