Vodacom Canal Walk - Terrible Service

After choosing not to get an upgrade, I was given a R1000 Vodacom gift card.

I went to Cavendish to use the card, but it didn't work. I asked for my goods to be kept aside while I went to the Vodacom 4 U store. I explained the situation and was told that I would need to contact the Canal Walk branch where the gift card had been issued. They kindly let me use their phone to contact the branch. I explained the situation to a woman on the phone. She put me on hold while she spoke to her supervisor. She came back to say she had spoken to her supervisor and that I would need to come in to the branch to have the card activated.

What kind of store gives you a gift card that isn't activated? Why is it my problem that the staff didn't activate it when they originally gave it to me? The supervisor was very unhelpful when I spoke to her - even calling me 'Darling, ' which I found very condescending considering the situation. I think it's unacceptable that I have to go all the way to Canal Walk to activate a card that should have been activated in the first place. After being a Vodacom customer for 14 years, I am very disappointed and angry with this ridiculous lack of assistance and service.
