My wife and I received a gift card from family members for an amount of R1000 for our wedding in December 2011 which is valid for a year. We decided to use the card 7 months later at game in Bayside only to realize that we had a R1-00 balance only.
So we decided to investigate the matter with game customer service (ongoing issue from 2012) and they pulled up records that our gift card was used to purchase 2 Mobicel Dual sim cellphone instore at the Canal walk branch on the 2nd of January 2012 at 14:36 (Public Holiday) whilst we where away and the gift card safely kept at our premises. We did not purchase these 2 cheap phones as we both own blackberry's.
I spoke to the canal walk store manager Peter Davies and he advised that the card was used that his store to purchase 2 cellphone and apparently these phones did not require to be rica'd (hence cannot be traced) and they do not have cameras at the till's to see who made the purchase.
It been over a year now and we keep hitting dead ends and the most disheartening thing is that it was a wedding gift put together from family member's fro us to purchase something to remember them by and that opportunity is lost. Very disapppointing
