Rotten service - again

For the first time since cell phones arrived in SA, I lost my cell phone today. Have been with Autopage since the start. I phoned them this evening to let them know. What a nightmare. Was left with absolutely no assurance whatsoever that my problem will be attended to, quickly and efficiently. Big, long story about having to file an insurance claim (with the insurance I pay for, through Autopage); that this is outsourced; that it's not Autopage's problem; that Autopage has no idea how long claim will take to settle and how long I will have to wait for a new phone. No suggestions whatsoever as to how I can get my service re-instated ASAP, even using an old phone I have, so I can run my business. Very vague as to how my problem can be escalated. Rubbish, rubbish service. And a damned contract I'm locked into for the next several months. Do we as consumers still have to put up with this kind of nonsense from service-providers?
