Last Saturday approximately 6 people including myself had valuables from LOCKED lockers at the Virgin Active gym in Hatfield. I have several reasons to believe that the staff are involved in the incident, particularly the staff member who signed me up. I believe that I was targeted because I am a foreigner and he knew I had valuables with me. I asked if the locker room was safe and he said it was (he did not tell me anything about the safety box option behind the front desk). He also to me about giving me a free weeks membership and a free towel which he promised the day before. I also saw this staff member near the locker room around the time that the occurred, which places him at the scene of the crime. However I don't think he was acting alone. There are other staff or his friends involved with the robberies. They know how to access the inside of the lockers without even breaking the door or the padlock. There is no point in having locks on the doors at all! The Hatfield police stated that it was likely an 'inside job'. Disappointingly the club management have accepted zero responsibility and aren't doing anything about it. Beware if you go to this gym!
