Change of contract conditions before expiry

I have a contract with virgen gym via discovery Vitality. The original contarct stated that if I will not attend at least 24 times in a roling year I will loose my contract, will have to register again and pay joining fees.
Now I got an email stating that my contract conditions have changed. I have to attend at least 36 times or I loose my contract and have to pay joining fee to join again. Totaly unaceptable and iligal to change a contract while it is still in force. Is this a schem to make more money from members that will have to re register??? Totaly unacepted
