I signed a 3 year membership at Planet Fitness in Sonstraal Heights due to the fact that it was walking distance from my house, in Sep/Oct 2012. In Jan 2013 when I returned from my December Holiday the gym was closed. I had no idea why. I found out through friends that the gym had burnt down. For the past year I have been paying my monthly installments yet have had NO access to the facilities. I am told to go to Aurora Club which is NOT walking distance from my house! A year has passed and I am tired of paying for a service that I cannot use! And I have had enough. When I think of the money I have wasted this year it makes me furious and I want my money back.
When contacting the call center to request that they cancel my membership I am told that I will need to pay a settlement fee to cancel! Over R1000!
They are forcing me to remain in a membership contract for a service that they can no longer offer. They expect me to continue paying for a service and don't care that I cannot access the Aurora facilities.
I am appalled!
