Debiting my account without my permission

Hi there I cancelled my gym membership over a year ago and now they started deducting from my bank account again without my permission or notification and now they want proof of cancellation and I cant provide it as I do not keep emails that long. Also the staff i spoke to was very unprofessional and unhelpful.
